This is a Chinese restaurant but for non-Chinese. As a Chinese, we never consider Dou Sha Bao as a dessert, but will have them together with main dishes. That’s fine when a very polite server asked me if I needed a box, I told her Dou Sha Bao wasn’t served yet. I misunderstood her that she wanted to pack Dou Sha Bao for to go, so I asked her if she wanted us to check out (I know how many people are waiting outside), however, she was gone. Another server who speaks mandarin came to my table to explain that the Dou Sha Bao is a dessert, so they wanted to clean up the table before serving that. It’s not a big deal. However, after that, the first server came back and talked to my husband only, and she said sorry for offending us (actually not, I just didn’t understand why she wanted to give us a package before last dish, because box means check out most times). Finally, I felt being offended, the server didn’t look at me and used her body language to block me and only faced to my husband. Actually, I wanted to explain to her about this misunderstanding, and to let her know how Chinese eat Dou Sha Bao (not different from Xiao Long Bao, they are all main food). But she insisted against me with her body, it seems I wasn’t there! Walking away from the restaurant, I felt I got offended by her. This was the experience of yesterday evening.
I recently ordered takeout from Din Tai Fung, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Despite it being a busy evening, my order was ready in a swift 23 minutes, which was impressive. I had ordered the chicken dumplings, which were perfectly crafted. My favorite were the spicy chicken wontons . The wontons themselves were tender and generously filled, while the spicy sauce added a pleasant kick that didn't overpower the delicate flavors. For something sweet, I had the chocolate buns. These were a delightful surprise—soft and pillowy on the outside with a rich, molten chocolate center. It was a perfect end to the meal, satisfying my sweet tooth without being overly indulgent. It is definitely my goto Asian Restaurant
Went here for Father’s Day and did not disappoint. They messed up an order but then quickly corrected it! Everything including dessert was delicious!
Always a solid experience. Crab Xiao long baos, sauteed spinach and Shanghai rice cakes are a fave. Kids loved the black sesame dessert Xiao long baos. Service was superb. But I still miss the old location down the street.
