The Royal Oak - New Forest

The food and ambiance were exceptional. Some in our group who tried the Chocolate Brownie dessert said it was the best they had ever had. We only wished that the tea had been hotter, but we did not bring it up at the time, so it was not fixed.

I requested a lunch reservation and was informed that it was not needed because the restaurant was not busy. However, upon arriving, the restaurant was fully occupied and we were only given a table in a location that we did not prefer. The staff's attitude was not accommodating, so we decided to leave.

I made a reservation for Sunday lunch based on friends' recommendation, but was disappointed with the tough beef and overcooked roast potatoes. The meal was also overpriced. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.

The staff were extremely welcoming and the food plentiful. One of the best ploughman's lunches we've had for a long time.

Terrible, way overpriced Ploughman's with half portions, very small helping of Steak and Ale pie with unchunky chips and salad. Not impressed for £75+
