Mandarin - New City

Very disappointed. It has been a long time since I have eaten here. Unfortunately the food was not good.

I am in totally disbelief of the service and the food in this establishment. I ordered a very simple dish since I have never been here but I've had this dish elsewhere. First off walking in the place I was wondering were they going out of business. There were boxes all over the place in chairs on tables open closed boxes the counter was cluttered as.well there were no other customers so it was a bit odd but my husband and I were hungry. I ordered chicken egg foo young I ve had numerous places in the past so.i figured it's simple, well what a disgrace. The etiquette is horrible for customers to dine in. The egg foo young arrived looking like dry hockey pucks w a tiny bowl of what was to be gravy. Clearly whoever made it was a amateur I had no intention of eating I broke it open with my fork out curiosity. Wow unbelievable I advised I did not want and the waitress got offended and I told her I've never seen this dish look this way she got very rude and told me I had to pay for it regardless even tho I did not eat it. The tables are NOT set for indoor dining very unorganized I asked for soy sauce for the rice was given 2 packets. Can I tell you this is the worst establishment I've ever encountered in Rockland.

Would give it less than one if that were possible. We ordered beef szechuan from there yesterday and the beef was well beyond out of date. It was rancid. We had to throw it out after one bite. It would have made me very ill at the least and put my husband in the hospital with his health problems. Used to like this place. Won’t be ordering from there again.

PLEASE READ!!!! VERY IMPORTANT FOR YOUR HEALTH AND WELL BEING.I’ve been going to Mandarin since I was a child, I’m not sure how many owners there have been but it was the best Chinese Restaurant in Rockland at that time.NOW.. DO NOT GO HERE! The food is NOT EDIBLE ,and HORRENDOUS!!threw it out!the owners are nasty and the place is dark and dirty, he gave me a dirty look cuz I asked for another duck sauce.I Ordered mixed veggies in garlic sauce, for lunch and veggie Lo Mein.The MIXED VEGGIE DISH HAD 3 pieces of Chinese celery , that’s it ! NO OTHER VEGGIES, maybe 1 or 2 mushrooms.and UNDERNEATH that …WAS PORK FRIED RICE! Which is not stated on menu ,, on the menu it says choice of soup , egg roll, OR RICE.I don’t EAT PORK ! I almost threw up ! LOOKED LIKE DOG FOOD! And WAS LIKE RUBBER.THE LO MEIN TASTED 4 days OLD, WITHOUT ANY VEGGIES , AND VERY DARK, as though they took 4 day OLD LO MEIN AND SMOTHERED IT WITH SOY SAUCE.I TRIED TO PUT DUCK SAUCE ON IT TO KILL THE TASTE, and the DUCK SAUCE TASTED LIKE RANCID VINEGAR!!I CALLED THE RESTAURANT AND ASKED To speak with the MANAGER… and the man hung up on me. Called back 3 more times, he picked up and hung up. I wish I READ THE OTHER REVIEWS before I ordered from here. THERE’S no way this place can stay in business, I hope it closes soon! Even the fortune cookie was stale and tasted like dishwater !RUN AWAY !!!!!!!! Let’s hope for something better!
