Steakhouse 85 - New Brunswick

I booked this place initially for my boyfriend's 40th birthday celebration. We traveled from NY to this place because of the great reviews . I enjoyed the live music , the energy of the location and the convience of the parking lot across the street from the resturant. We ordered both the lump crab cake and short rib wonton for appiterizers . For our main we both got the surf and turf with the filet minon cut and lobster tail , along side with lobster mac and cheese . The food was immaculate . This was one of the better steakhouses I have ever visited. However I did wish our server was more attentive to us as I saw him come by multiple times to check on other guest . He even took shots with two separate tables and not once within that time came to check on us . I saw many other tables being delivered bread, but we didn't get any and our server never checked up to see if we did . It wasn't until our appetizers came that my boyfriend ask if we were suppose to recieve bread at the table . As our first time at your establishment I was disappointed in the lack of customer service from this particular server . I also definitely understand that when the resturant is busy then these things could be an oversight . However , if you have time to take shots with multiple people and attend to them then why was my table excluded from having the same kind of customer service . To be honest I did enjoy the food every much , just not the experience by the gentleman that served our table.

Great food. Server gave suggestions tailored to our interests. Water and drink were kept filled. Steaks were excellent. Lobster risotto and scalloped potatoes were borderline addictive.

Amazing upscale establishment, food was mouth watering, and staff were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Great atmosphere (a bit noisy on a Friday night) but 10/10 experience.

I wasn't crazy about the bone in ribeye (cowboy). I didn't find it juicy and favorable! The cilantro shrimp app was delicious. The baked potato was big and cooked perfectly! Shrimp cocktail was jumbo and tasted average. Salad with apple slices was delish. The highlight was our waitress Jessica. She was excellent! For me, one and done!

Very fancy restaurant, great all around. Our server was extremely attentive and friendly. Food was served promptly and tasted very good. My only complaint is that the plates were very small and angled making it hard to cut the steak. I was surprised to see that they charged $8 per bottle of water. Overall great place but NOT cheap at all. $200 bill for 3 people plus tip. Worth it as a special occasion, too budget breaking to go there on a regular basis. Parking is tough, you likely won't find a spot on Church St. Try on Neilson or Paterson streets or pay slightly more for the church st garage.
