Shira Kiku - Nashua

I visited this restaurant recently, and I had a disappointing experience. The elderly gentleman and lady were unwelcoming from the start; the lady even remarked on how high the prices were, assuming I couldn't afford them. When I asked for help with the menu, they told me to come back another time. I politely explained that it's not acceptable for a business to turn away customers like that. I’m giving it one star, and I definitely won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone.

During our first visit to Shira Kiku, we were returning to Boston from the White Mountains and needed a quick meal. We called ahead to place an order. Unfortunately, we hit some unexpected traffic, but the owners—a delightful elderly Korean couple who have run the restaurant for 40 years—were gracious enough to keep the restaurant open late just for us. As we enjoyed our scallion pancakes on the way, our appreciation for the place grew. The soy-ginger dipping sauce that came with the pancakes, which were perfectly made, was absolutely exquisite. Since that initial visit, we've made it a tradition to stop by Shira Kiku every time we drive back from the White Mountains, and each visit has left us feeling satisfied and happy. I even learned how to eat bibimbap and found out they make their own kimchi on weekends. With all of this in mind, it is truly disheartening to learn that they are closing down. Thank you for all the wonderful dinners!

The sushi is amazing! Make sure to get it with brown rice—you won’t be disappointed! The bibimbap is also absolutely delightful!
