Been here several times. I’ve always gave five stars. It wasn’t till the last few visits that I’ve noticed the customer service has gone down and so has the food quality. The last couple of times we got gristle in our chicken, fried steak and the mashed potatoes seem watered down. My wife got the shrimp salad and the shrimp wasn’t seasoned or succulent. They were just dry and cold. She didn’t even finish it. I was really disgruntled when half the restaurant was empty and we were waiting on two other people, they would not seat us until the rest of the party showed up. We went Friday, July 28 and it just didn’t seem all the good. Maybe they got a new staff. It’s going to be a awhile before we go back. You expect more when you blow $300 for a chicken fried steak meal. There were six of us, and they all seem to agree.
Hostess had no CLUE what to say to customers walking into the restaurant. She just stared at you until someone in YOUR party spoke to her even though you’d been standing at the hostess station obviously waiting to be seated. Finally my 16 year old gave up and said “table for 6”. There were 4 other tables occupied in the entire restaurant and two people at the bar. We were told it would be a 35-45 min wait. WHYYYY??!! Empty tables everywhere. At this place you have to wait outside where it’s hot. Finally we were called and our server had ONE other table. Server at least had a good personality. Food disappointing. Over priced. Iced tea was basically the only thing exceptional here. But that hostess…..never been trained and clueless on all levels.
This was an underwhelming experience to say the least. Do not let the menu fool you, this is not a culinary experience. It’s a tourist restaurant serving at best mediocre Sysco meals. The redfish dish was essentially over cooked Gordon’s fish sticks with somehow undercooked sweet potatoes. The shrimp and grits were both rubbery and mealy. I will usually give a restaurant the benefit of the doubt on a busy or bad day but every part of the dining experience including the drinks was not up to the expectations set by the menu and price point. Do not waste your time.
