Le Chocolat Du Bouchard - Naperville

Usually love going to this place, especially because I work so close and it’s a nice treat at the end of a long week. However, I went today for a few mini pastries and was told I had to purchase them in a pack of 6 now. Considering I was only buying for myself, I did not want that many, and I especially did not want to pay $12+ for pastries smaller than a dollar coin. Disappointed in this new change and not sure how often I’ll be visiting now.

Lots of 1 star reviews mostly about the staff, and I can see why. We walk in at 10:23 with a party of 9. They are already mopping the floor even though they say they are open until 11:00. The guy mopping looks at us in fear, apparently thinking to himself “I thought I was getting out of here.” The apparent manager then quickly walks over to a sign saying, “Hostess will seat you,” and turns it around to say, “This section closed.” We left and will never return. We went and had ice cream at Jeni’s instead. Very friendly and welcoming there.

The interior is very cute!! The turtle ganache and turtle cheesecake were so delicious. Honestly, mouth watering! They were pretty busy when we came in so they weren’t able to answer many questions. But I’m glad I was able to stop by and try this place out.

We stopped in for a dessert after having dinner nearby and were so happy that we did. My wife and I had only previously bought truffles from the store and had never actually gotten a table in the restaurant before. Our server Ferris was very accommodating without being overbearing. We ordered the flourless chocolate cake along with a cappuccino and decaf espresso. We not only loved the food but enjoyed a wonderfully long conversation in the chill and relaxed atmosphere. It was such an enjoyable evening there that we would have lingered longer if they hadn’t been so busy. What a great find (even though we’ve been to store several times)! Five stars all the way….We will definitely be back!
