I also ordered some cold cuts to take home. The sweet capicola was sliced thinly and had a good flavor. Although I didn’t catch the brand, most of the cold cuts appeared to be Boar's Head. I also got mortadella, one of my favorite meats. Generally, I love Boar's Head products, but the mortadella here was cut much smaller than the traditional size—only about five or six inches wide instead of the usual 16 inches across. Additionally, the color was a bit darker than what I'm used to seeing in authentic mortadella. Since Toffino claims to be an authentic establishment, I asked the woman behind the counter why they would skimp on such an important item, and she nonchalantly replied, "Don't ask me; I just work here." Perhaps dessert would redeem the experience? I tried two classics: sfogliatella and pasticciotto with a pastry cream filling. Both were better than average but didn’t quite reach spectacular status. The filling in the pasticciotto was a bit too dense—decent, but it should have been lighter and sweeter. The sfogliatella was preferable, but the shell was a tad tough. Overall, I’ve had far worse experiences, but getting to Toffino's is a bit of a drive for me, and based on this first visit, I think it might be a while before I return. The search continues.

This is not what I would consider an Italian pastry! I found the filling in my lobster tail to be very disappointing. I’m not sure why so many people rave about it. I suppose if you’re used to Arthur Avenue, this just doesn’t measure up!

We love their pizzas. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is in a great location. It's clean and has great pastries.

Every time we visit the area, Toffino's is a must! Excellent food! It's always packed, so going early is a good idea. They have sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, and a bakery with homemade desserts that will make you bust your diet enjoy every minute of it.
