LA OLLA DE BARRO - Moyobamba

We got “pescado a la hoja”, a fish cooked with steam. well this was so hard to bite. we also ate “chicharron de lagarto”, which was also soou heavy. I think they have kept these meal times a long time ago.

I had dinner twice and found eating very well. it is a bit more pricier than other places, but there is a difference in quality. they have a very good selection of local fruit drinks. try camu camu or aguaje or Kegeliba or...cocona... and of course the more frequent maracuya and guanabana. also for 3 sohlen, they get an ice-cold green cocosnus with a straw to drink the ice-cold cocos water. I thought a few times a cocose. very friendly service with young men waiter. they wanted to show me the different fruits I drank. the main dishes also come with three shots. the green is made of cocona fruit and is very good.

A good place, with typical dishes from the region. I had a Cocona Sour, it was delicious. Then the cecina with chorizo and tacachos, fried plantains, was great too! The chonta salad was very fresh and refreshing to start. the service was great and they...help in choosing the best dish. the place is always packed with locals and the prices are in the middle.

My friends and I had passed by the restaurant some times and though it looked like a cosy place to have some local food. Sadly our visit was everything but nice.. The service was horrible we were the only one when we got there...and still we had to wait forever to get menus. When we had questions about the food the guy didn't now anything, had to run to the kitchen for whatever small question. We waited forever for small dishes, the food was very salty and not very good. 2 out of 3 of us got the wrong food. Not value for money most dishes was s/. 20 and up We speak fluently spanish (one of us are peruvian) so the confusions wasn't because of language issues. Would not recommend this place out of our experience.

Olla de Barro looks great and the food is okay Between two of us we ate Ceviche Pork Ribs the fish and meat portions were small. The ribs though tasty but was very tight on the bone so maybe a couple of...mouthfuls of food portion and a little dry chips were nice. We both drank Pisco Drinks again portion was tiny and expensive too much egg white and not enough alcohol (about one good suck on a straw left the glass full of egg white). Overall was disappointed but with slightly larger portions would have been a good meal. Service was great fast and friendly but that can't earn a good rating on its own.
