The Old Coastguard - Mousehole

We had an absolutely delightful visit! Although we only ordered drinks, we were warmly welcomed and enjoyed sitting down while watching the ocean.

The food was incredible, the service was fantastic, and the setting by the sea was beautiful.

We enjoyed a Sunday lunch at The Old Coastguard with a group of seven, and it was a delightful experience. The interior decor was lovely, and there was also outdoor seating available. The food was tasty, and we were treated to stunning views of the sea.

The menu was eclectic and a step above the usual gastropub fare. I started with a delicate mackerel mousse, followed by a tender beef filet—though the portion was a bit smaller than expected, it was very tasty. The service was excellent: attentive without being intrusive, and our courses were served at just the right pace. One minor point to mention is that the wine selection could be improved. Overall, we spent about £45 per person for three courses, drinks beforehand, and wine/aperitifs/coffee, which was quite reasonable given the high quality of the food and service. We will definitely be returning.

This is the best place to stay in the southwest corner. The attention to detail is exquisite, the menu is imaginative, and the regional food is wonderful. The service is excellent thanks to the attentive staff. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished. Overall, it's fantastic!
