Shaffer - Mountainair

We had lunch at the Shaffer Hotel restaurant. It was excellent. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was amazing. A blast from the past. We took a self guided tour of the hotel. We were able to look inside a number of the available rooms. There's also a art gallery attached to the hotel that is a must see when visiting. We're definitely going to come stay a night very soon. The hotel is located in the small town of Mountainair, New Mexico. It's about 60 or 70 miles Southeast of Albuquerque. It's a beautiful drive from Albuquerque on a slow winding road that skirts the Monzano Mountains and takes you through three or four small towns before arriving in Mountainair. There's three or four state parks within 10 to 25 miles that are truly amazing. Enjoy New Mexico's back roads !
