Mandarin Restaurant - Mount Gambier

Waited an hour for our very average meal while multiple takeaway orders went out the door. Must be better options in Mount Gambier.

We had an excellent meal for our anniversary. The restaurant was packed but service was very friendly and prompt. The food was tasty and correctly sized for two. We will be back.

I guess things have been a bit quiet in the rural restaurant scene because, well, Covid and that. But when we had rung three times to book for our group of 9 people, then to ask for a specific table and then to ask if it was BYO (that call was about 10 mins before we arrived) and they still had to look up our booking even though the place was empty well, things weren’t looking up. Corkage is $9 a bottle. Glasses of wine are about $9 each we’re pretty much talking city prices here! We then had to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce. Soy sauce was brought out in a tiny bowl and placed next to the one person who had asked for it. No Kikkoman share bottles here! Everything was served with general disinterest and like we were rushing them off their feet. The food was so bland that I was almost tempted to ask for some MSG. I probably sound like some high maintenance foodie type but actually I’m not. If the food was terrible and prices sky high but the people had been gracious and welcoming then I wouldn’t be leaving this terrible review. What was going to be our first extended family dinner in about a year left us feeling underwhelmed.

We had a great time dining at Mandarin Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is very spacious, clean, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We especially enjoyed the homemade dim sims and spring rolls - so delicious! Our main dishes of fried rice and sizzling steak were also excellent. I would definitely come back to eat here again.

We were blown away by the taste of all our meals at the restaurant. Friendly service and easy check in with QR code. Attentive waitresses. Big Meals full of taste. Had to take away our left overs as hubby couldn't bear to leave it enjoyed it so much
