Have eaten here on previous trips & always been pretty good. Was just average this time - the roast pork was good but served with a strange cabbage side that didn't match at all & detracted from meal. Other meals were ok. Wait & bar...More

Have been to this Hotel several times before and unfortunately the meals are slowly but surely going down hill. The lunch specials are no longer value for money. Chicken schnitzel now 1/4 of the size it use to be. Sliced in half so it is paper thin and over cooked. The owner's reply is that people want less on the plate but my argument is that the paying diner should decide how much they eat. It was hard to find the steak in the "Steak Sandwhich" which now is denuded of the bread lid. Once again owner has decided no one wants the lid. It is such a shame as it was once a bustling enjoyable place to eat. The day four of us went for lunch there were only 2 other diners. Our meals came out one at a time (why we don't know). 5 mins between first meal arriving and the last one. They certainly were not busy and no one in the bar..... Will not be returning

The historic Five Flags serves a great pub meal if you are really hungry. The menu has a variety of both traditional pub meals and the odd surprise at reasonable prices. Meals are large and always tasty. When the pub restaurant is busy, meals may take a while to be served, but still well worth the wait.Suitable for family dining, high chairs are available.Easy access to the bar from the many dining areas, both open and private. Wine and mixed drinks list is only fair, but they do try to support local makers.I love the atmosphere of this venue, both inside and in the courtyard.
