Ocean Basket Hartenbos - Mossel Bay

They rushed us and we had to ask for standard condiments. Marchelle didn’t return for another drink order. We called the manager, but he made no effort to rectify the situation. Eventually, the waiter came back to clear the table without even asking if we wanted to order anything else. It was clear he just wanted us to leave. Meanwhile, the kitchen was still fully operational and busy preparing other meals. As locals, we have always supported this establishment, but due to this poor service and attitude, I will not recommend Ocean Basket Hartenbos to anyone!

We have been visiting Hartenbos OB for years during the Buff season and have always enjoyed great service and food. However, yesterday was a significant disappointment for our group of five. The kingklip was mushy and unappetizing, seemingly frozen for a long time. The 135g sole was mostly bones, with only a small piece of fish. On a positive note, the waitress was attentive and apologized for the experience. The fish and chips were good, but overall, the meal did not meet our expectations.

Avoid this restaurant at all costs; the food is extremely disappointing and not worth the money. The lemon butter sauce tasted like something altered with yellow paint—definitely no butter in it. The fish was overcooked, and the snoek portions contained nothing but scraps that are usually discarded, like bones, skin, and fins. You end up paying for this worthless waste. Overall, it was a very negative experience.

Worst experience with service from the manager of this store. We are frequently visiting all the OB branches but this one the manager lady makes a toilet smell and look good. The manager is rude and addement not to supply us with food. Rudeness is her lifestyle. The waiters are friendly. I pitty them. Thank goodness for the head office that immediately sorted out the problem.
