De Dekke - Mossel Bay

Met some friends there and it was quite nice. Service was a bit slow but we received our orders. Also had a good dance on Saturday and the music was a good variety if one wanted to dance to different types of music.

Upon seeing the nice atmosphere and some positive reviews we were highly disappointed. 1. The waitress did not know the menu at all and could not advise what comes with the meal. 2. The waitress did not ask if we wanted our fish grilled or fried. We received grilled which where not what we wanted. 3. Hubby ordered De Dekker hake which is 2 pieces of hake and I ordered an hake calamari combo take away. 4. The place where not so busy and the waiting period where long. 5. Upon receiving the takeway the waitress just dropped the boxes on the table and passed to make other rounds instead of finishing our service as we just needed to make payment and food going cold already. 6. We had to ask the waitress to please take our payment

Visited De Dekke yesterday again after a few previous visits with friends over a nice lunch and drinks. However, yesterday’s visit leaves a lot to be desired. My wife had a rump steak and I had to settle for a standard burger as ingredients for the Trammazine or even toasted sandwich) was not available. My wife’s steak was done to her liking but was absolutely tasteless. My burger patty was disgusting to say the least. I got the impression that it was prepared beforehand and then reheated for my order. Absolutely tasteless. Inedible! The chips were so oily I refused to eat it. On a positive note we were offered a small discount on the bill. The poor waitress apologized profusely. In such a case as this I would have expected a visit to our table by management. They definitely won’t see us again. What a shame!!!

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food a little disappointing, fish calamari and chips all too blonde and not crispy enough for me. The portion size however was very big. Could have shared with the hubby.

Very disappointing. Just wanted some takeout. Waited long to be helped as the waiters just kept walking past and complaining they were under staffed. Food took a long time. Just wanted some hake and calamari takeout for me and the wife and a pizza for the kids. The pizza toppings were stuck to the top of the box.The base was soggy. The fish and calamari tasted weird as if the oil had not been changed in a while. Grootbrak has been our holiday destination for 12 years now. 4 years ago I had a similar experience at the dekke but thought after all this time things might have changed. Guess not.price of food and atmosphere is good. So not all bad.
