Golden Horse Chinese Restaurant

I went here Thursday. Decided to dine in rather than eat in the car even though its about $3 a dish more to eat in.I found it odd that you can't get sizzling platters without peking sauce - that's their only option. Meat with peking sauce and no veg (or mongolian).We ordered king prawns and veg which was delicious (very large vegetables though which are so hard to cut without a knife - I accidentally spilt it all over myself and the table trying). The mongolian lamb was average - there were some very chewy bits, one so chewy I had to spit it onto the plate.The staff were ok. Some friendlier than others.

We had the $32 banquet with soup, spring rolls, 4 meals with only 1 rice and desert. The food was okay but with one can of drink only the bill came to $140. They need to have at least one more rice between 4 people. The waitress was young and very helpful but gave us our can of softdrink each but then we had to ask for a straw. Do they expect us to drink straight from the can. The food was nice but nothing special. The deserts were ice cream with tinned fruit salad or tinned peaches. We will probably go Thai instead next time.

I've been going to Golden Horse for 20 years, and found it consistently good. The sizzling chicken is absolutely amazing!! If you're after a decent chinese meal for the famil, you're in the right place!

It was pleasant but busy and the service suffered slightly because of that. The food was fine but the overall experience was less than attractive. For the cost and the service and the food together, it was OK on the night but there are better options nearby and I will go to the others every time in the future.

Nice food but I would suggest you phone order and then pick up as they get busy. We have been getting takeout from here for a few years now and it is reliably good.
