Shuckin' Shack Oyster - Morehead City

This restaurant is full of great atmosphere! Please give it a read and try it out. If I wasn't on vacation, I would be a regular here. Thanks for the memories.

I am not sure if it's related to the aftermath of the pandemic or something else, but the service from seating to receiving our food was extremely slow. The mahi tacos were tasty, but we were not impressed with the large chicken wings or the hush puppies. The hush puppies seemed store-bought, with a gummy texture and lack of flavor. It seems like the restaurant is trying their best, but the overall dining experience falls short of what the menu promises.

We stopped at this restaurant for a quick lunch during a storm on our first day in North Carolina. The atmosphere inside was lively and the bartender and server we had were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the drinks were even better. The only downside was that our family felt the portions were slightly small for the price. However, this is not a deal breaker at all and we would definitely come back again! 100% recommend.

I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I had a tough time overlooking the extremely slow service. It was a Wednesday night and there were only two servers working for the entire restaurant, so maybe it would have been better on a night when they were fully staffed. I requested an oyster shooter to taste before ordering a dozen, but it never arrived. My friends received their meals after an 80-minute wait, and they were kind enough to share with me so I wouldn't go hungry. Unfortunately, the raw oysters were served on a tray of melted ice, making them waterlogged before we could eat them. The food quality was good, but the ordering and dining experience were more of an ordeal than enjoyable. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.
