Buonanotte - Montréal

We come here every year and are never disappointed! We really enjoy the ability to dinate more family style, sharing the different dishes. The wine selection is also good.

Four of us went here in January 2018. I haven't been here for many years (ten or more). I don't know why I came back. We had a variety of inconspicuous pasta dishes; some badly prepared appetizers; and a sampling or two from the surprisingly economical...wine list. The location is wonderful. I hear it's temporarily closed. Very good; they need a complete makeover. Start getting rid of all the service personnel they are amateurs.

Buonanotte was a stable when visiting Montreal. The service ebbs and flows like any restaurant. The food needs to be disappointed. Excellent selection of wines and make a great evening with colleagues.

An alternative to the New York Times 36 hours sent us to Buonanotte during our one night in Montreal. The atmosphere was strange, it was very empty, the waiters wore mini skirts and unveiled tops and the restaurant itself was ice cold. Our order... was first misplaced and so we waited until one person was done for the other to eat, there was no withdrawal or offer of a drink / dessert to apologize for it. Food was good, but seems to be more of a club that does food.

The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The food is fabulous ! However, this is not the place for a quick meal. The first time I went, it took 1.5 hrs. for food to arrive. When I complained, we were comp'd a glass of wine...each. I decided to try a 2nd time. This time, we got our appetizer in 15 mins. main course in 45 mins. I've discovered that you must make yourself known and you will be cared for. Both the grilled octopus and the steak were fantastic. They also have a great wine selection, albeit a little pricey.
