Bidrage med feedbackIf Le Beau Fort seems to want to persist longer than the Ellefsen that it replaced, I am still looking for a constant at this place. The service, the menu, and even the ambiance vary so much that it is difficult to give a fixed rating to this place. The last time I went there, the person I was with, just like me, found no reason to go back. Several items missing from the menu, practically no vegetarian options, and generic coffee. And overall, for the price, it's average. Certainly, Le Beau Fort remains a good place for a business lunch or to grab a coffee (or even a beer) with a colleague, because the space is pleasant. But the competition nearby is becoming increasingly present. For a few years now, cafés, bars, and restaurants opening just around the corner make me increasingly look for a reason to visit Le Beau Fort.
Following a recommendation, we decided to give a try for the anniversary of my wife's son. I was very surprise. Small place, with a terrace on the street. The food is very good and the service is great. The calamari salad and the tartar were just great. The lady guided us for the wine and was also great. They struggle a bit with the demi-cuit cake but was good.I will return for sure !
The menu tends to be limited, but the food is excellent. The owner is really friendly and always remembers returning customers. Whether there for a coffee, drinks or food, really worthwhile. No pretensions yet good atmosphere.
On a warm and sunny spring Saturday afternoon we sat down on the terrace of the Beaufort Cafe and were soon joined at the next table by two men who were visiting Montreal from London. Three hours and two bottles of champagne later, we left Beaufort with the warmest feelings imaginable. The server, Karin, was a special delight and the food, including gazpacho, a cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate cake, were simply superb. Hello Sebastian and Nigel! Thank you so much, Karin!
I'm actually not sure how to rate this place. It's cute, nice atmosphere, lively and helpful staff, and the food was good. I ordered the octopus and muscle plate. The salad was great, the red tomato sauce on the octopus isn't really my thing, I could have done without and I thought was missing something. It was just red sauce which seemed to have no taste. (I'm Italian. Sauce needs flavour, what can I say?!) The platter it was served on I think is a cool idea, but pretentious for no reason. Hubby ordered a tartar which I actually thinks he makes a way better one himself at home. BUT, as I mentioned, I don't know how to rate this as I still really liked the place. Maybe it was the staff and the people, and the food WAS good. See for yourself, Give it a try. It's not a disappointment, it's just not what I expected.
