El Taco Shop - Montgomery

Just ate at El Taco Shop for the second day in a row. Sorry no pictures of the food, it 's just that good. Yesterday had the el pastor burrito gandalla (pork) along with the churros and horchata absolutely amazing. Today, had the carne asada burrito gandalla, sub french fries for the beans aka 'California Burrito '. This place is the quintessential taco shop that you find in Southern California. The staff and owners are super friendly. Great food, atmosphere, and prices. This is my new go to stop for legit Mexican food.

Best Mexican food in Montgomery by a large margin. One of the few restaurants in Montgomery that actually know how to use spices and seasonings in their food. Every other Mexican food place in Montgomery tastes like watered down Tex mex. I have been to a few where when you get chips and salsa it’s just a can of diced tomatoes and it’s so pathetic here they use multiple peppers and aren’t afraid to flavor it to their liking. Wife got street tacos and they were good size and you add the toppings you want at the salsa bar like it is supposed to be) I got the carne asada burrito gandalla but I subbed rice and beans for French fries to make a substitute California burrito. This is the first place I have asked for this and they haven’t looked at me like a maniac. If you like Mexican food do yourself a favor and go here and you’ll love Mexican food.

Was so very happy to find this taco shop!!! Was missing California authentic Mexican food and we have found this little diamond...food was amazing I had tacos with beans and rice and hubby went all out with carne asada tacos, steak nachos,chorizo dip,elotes. Topped with a horchata which was Soo good... Will definitely be back and bring our friends !!! AND such amazing and friendly staff!!!!

I’m often leery when superlatives like “best” are thrown around haphazardly. The elote from El Taco Shop is indeed the best in Montgomery. I’ve tried them all. It’s not close.

Being from Cali, we are used to authentic Mexican food. This is the best I've had since living in the south. Im super excited!
