Bidrage med feedbackGreat premium wine tour with tasting. Nice place, nice staff, really good wine!
Certainly one of the prettiest vineyards in Uruguay. It feels more European than other, more 21st century vineyards, like Garzon or Viña Eden. You drive up a tree-lined gravel road to the winery, which feels hidden off the country road. Wines are pretty good. Also in its favor, it is one of the closer vineyards in the Montevideo area.
Excellent Tannat Reserva and the demi sec sparkling wine was nice as well. We were offered lunch during the tasting which was a nice surprise. Thanks again Mariana. Tell your dad we said hi :
We were here as part of a tour on our cruise ship. We got a tour through the vineyard from a member of the family and then a tour through the winery itself. Because they're small, we need to see some fillings. Our guide also gave us a history of the family and their purchase of this country and some of the things they do differently than some other local wineries. And then we had lunch and the quality of the food was on place with our cruise meals. Antipasti dish with some breads all fabulous and the plates always in stock (and wine). The meal was beef tenderloin with roasted white and sweet potatoes (and something else I liked and cannot remember). And wine. And when this plate was empty, it was filled again. I felt bad that a fair amount of food remained. They even served Dessert with champagne. My advice, if you have the opportunity to visit the winery, do it. We bought several bottles, drank some on the ship and came home with one.
We were now four times in the last years in the cellar, the last trip in December 2014, so I thought it was time for me to let other travelers know what a big day trip is. The visits to the winery were all day trips from Montevideo, Uruguay, with other passengers from different cruise ships. With a Roll Call on Cruise Critic, a passenger of each of the ships organized for a group of people to go to the winery and Victoria, the owners granddaughter who speaks excellent English, organized a very comfortable, modern, air-conditioned bus, including a guide to get us from the Port Gates and get us to the winery, before a tour from the city on the way. Between 20 to 25 passengers went on each of the excursions, It is not more than an hour drive from the city and go there gives visitors the country a great opportunity to see a little of the pleasant landscape and coast. Victoria seems to know everything about the winemaking process and answered all the search questions of some of the scientific and enthusiastic winemakers during the tour through the winery. The winery then arranges a wine tasting in a beautiful cool, spacious and well furnished room with a selection of its different wines to taste. The winery also offers delicious home made hot and cold snacks. The winery offers options for the number of wines to taste and consume the type of food, catering for people with food allergies also. The very inexpensive wines were available after the meeting and a small number of other souvenirs. The last cruise ships that we organized a visit to another winery, without a city tour, and loaded much more than this winery accused us. Next time we visit Montevideo, we want to go back there, its a big day out
