I went to the Bistro to enjoy some French Culture... My experience was really bad. I order a coffe and a pice of Cake... Cost... 14 US Dollars.... They do not give me a menu-card so they charge you what they want.. tipically Uruguayan style). they call it viveza criolla. They have no newspapers, or magazines in french... they have some in Brazilian... well I expected some French Culture and old magazine, some books, maybe newspapers... nothing at all. The place is agreable, staff is nice, but really the price they charge is simple a robbery. They have prices from Paris and very very little quality, coffe with bad taste in a cheap cup, and cake in a plate that look like an ashtray.... well maybe they have to travel to Paris and learn something... Give quality and ask for a price... not asking price for nothing..... So really do not waste your money...... they do not give any service or quality just want to steal money....
Beautiful small place in the garden behind the alliance francais. just what it should be delicious, but just farewell, great service.
The brunch (sonday) was excellent! you should come here alone for the celestial. I had the pancakes that would put most places to shame. my friend has the open sandwich that burst with taste. the service was excellent and welcoming. go here if you have the chance. it is hidden around the back of the art center.
I discovered this interesting coffee shop today. It’s placed right behind the Alliance Française de Montevideo. It’s almost hidden, so you will never find it too crowded, which is something great if you want to enjoy a wonderful time drinking a nice coffee and looking at the Alliance’s cute backyard. As the Alliance’s library is placed very close from there, you could go, grab a book and spend a relaxing time reading something cool in French.
