I'm so sorry, but I don't have to agree with some of the other reviews. first I would like to say that we chose this place because of the great reviews and because it was near our hotel the beautiful villa sassolini. as we. at our hotel have eaten the first night, we decided to try another restaurant. while some people like the fact that they are standing up and handed over to the owner to bring them their choice of antipasto, pasta, carne and postre, we were not too sharp and would have a menu only liked because mother and daughter (the charming were) do not speak English, while I speak 4 languages Italian is unfortunately not one of them and we ended up communicating in Italian. they also found it difficult to understand that we do not want to share a four cure meal we wanted a pasta, but not antipasto and then a meat dish among us we wanted also to enjoy with the meat dish and while we were promised to get verdura we were not getting, instead we got more carbs in the form of kartomas they were beautiful, but not what we wanted. the pasta we ordered, the tagliatelle with a simple tomato and basilikum sauce was beautiful. the meat dishes not so big, my steak was covered with sea salt, which together with the salty rosmarinked apples made the dish too salty, my elders had the duck, some pieces were ok others were too well made - we like our duck a little pink. the other big problem with the restaurant that led us without dessert was that it was freezing! when we complained, they said that they had a technical problem that led to the heating that did not work, I saw that the owner took an electric heating to another table and all the other customers, including we were up with our moms. to be honest, that was simply not acceptable, there was no excuse, no gesture of good will, only smile and limit the school! They were surprised that we went without coffee and dessert! we just couldn't tolerate them anymore. so everything in all I'm sorry we didn't have a great experience - maybe on a warm summer day the place looks and feels different for us, we thought our hotel was much better and a much more beautiful environment!
We came into this restaurant with so good reviews and it has not disappointed us! there is no menu and the cook explained what he would cook for us. we met the owner franca, such a beautiful lady that was eating amazing. and very fresh! the restaurant atmosphere feels very cozy!
If I could give osteria di rendola 6 of 5, I would. very comfortable, friendly service and impeccable toscan food. Eating here was more than a meal, it was an exalted Tuscan experience. we had waited for a beautiful Chianina steak all week, and on recommendation of the director of our villa we went to the osteria. After we sat on our comfortably large table, we all felt that this would be a special evening meal. first, no menu, they will enjoy what the kitchen prepares. while some on our table of 12 may be considered a somewhat picky esser to trust a chef with their menu, no one was disappointed. Those who enjoy cooking menus or simply enjoy Italian cuisine will love the traditional Tuscan cuisine offered here. we served antipasti of prosciutto, copa, salumi and cheese with fresh Italian brot. followed by some ricotta and fresh mozarella cheeses that preceded a plentiful round pappa col pomodoro and a variant with fresh seasonal vegetables. then the trippa, yes, trip. I had only tried trippa another time in my life and really did not enjoy it, but to see how the things go, I had to try the osteria’s. While I could certainly not eat a whole bowl of it, I found myself with a few decent portions. in my understanding it was certainly the best I ever had and could not imagine that it was better prepared. next, we were met with three of the biggest steaks I had ever seen (see picture). these beautiful plates of chianina steaks wanted us to be served? what a tasty bite. with roasted Tuscan potato and a simple leaf salad melted the steak just in my mouth and was the perfect compliment to excellent chianti served us. Not that one of us had more space but that was fixed with bowls of cantucci with vin santo brought to the close. we can't stop talking about this dinner. if they are in the opposite, an evening meal in osteria di rendola will not disappoint.
Some years ago we attended cooking-workshops at Osteria di Rendola. We shall never forget it. Chef Allessandro Bettini was our teacher. We never learned to cook this excellent food before. In may 2016 we plan to visit Rendola to have dinner there. A real reaunion.
