While driving between Mérida, Spain and Lisbon, we stopped here for lunch based on the recommendations we'd read. A Ribeira is the perfect combination of a local place with good food and an owner who enjoys what he does! You'll learn what's on the menu today from the owner as he sings from a center table top. And, when it's time to pay your bill, he'll also sing the charges to you. In between, you'll enjoy whatever you ordered.

I've been there a couple of times after moving to Montemor-O-Novo.The environment is very friendly and cheerful (wait until the owner starts to sing the menu or the deserts :D ), there is a nice variety of dishes and the quality/price relation is very good!Keep in mind that the restaurant is not that big (it is composed of two not-so-big dinning rooms), so if it's crowded it can get a bit loud. Apart from that, enjoy the great food and have fun :)

I hesitate to recommend this restaurant as it is a hidden gem, long known by the locals and now being discovered by us estrangeiros. This is our fourth visit and every much as good as the first. The singing owner, the staff, the hidden location and the food make for a joyous occasion. Make sure to plan a stop on your route to Évora.
