Al Fante - MONTEFORTE D'ALPONE

If you like to taste local dishes, get there. Everyday a surprise! Try the minestrone or the zuppa di trippe. Simply excellent

We stayed at nearby B&B and wanted to have a nice dinner in local restaurant. We were directed to Al Fante, which turned out to be less then average experience. Reason was mostly fact that owner and waiter there did not speak any English, nor he did show any intention to make us feel welcomed. I think he actually insisted to avoid serving us as we were not Italian. Felt very uncomfortable. We had to call for service in different way to get attention, as he would not answer first or second time called. Food it self was ok, but we were offered to pick only 2-3 kinds of pasta with 2-3 kinds of sauce. Wine offer was basic. Seemed like waiter (owner) wanted us to leave as soon as possible, as he often came and wanted to take our food away before we were finished. Made us look unwanted completely. My family and I would not wish anyone to feel like we did at this restaurant. Hope someone will read this review to him and hopefully he can see how it felt to be his guest.

This little family run restaurant typifies what we love about dining in Italy. Simple, inexpensive, high quality, friendly attentive service. The owner was very welcoming and made us feel like he'd known us for years. Will certainly seek Al Fante out again if we are ever in the area

We were on the way back from Arsenale to Hotel Monaco when we decided to stop here at this Trattoria for lunch. Friendly service and excellent food! We have a lunch there whenever we're in Venice. Oh, sit outside if you like to people-watch!
