Smashed Avocado with Boba and Pandan Waffle are excellent dessert/snack from this place....delicious, satisfying, and healthy. Come One, Come All
Never have I ever had an unchelicious order until I came here on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered #1,6,10, and 12. 1,6,10 are our usuals and 12 was new for us. The lady who took my order wasn't particularly welcoming. She later told me that she ran out of pandan jelly and asked if I could wait another 10 minutes (on top of the already 15 minutes) as she cooks more. I waited of course. EVERY Bambu I've been to has packed crushed ice into the domed lids and or offers extra crushed ice separately. My order had small mounds of crushed ice that melted and barely reached the tops of each cup. I don't see the point of putting a domed lid on each cup when there's nothing filling in it? The che was warm. Ugh. Apparently the lady put the warm pandan jelly that she just cooked into my che drinks. I think she was short staffed as she seemed to work the front and then disappear to the back. I didn't want to wait another 10 minutes to talk to her so I left. Huge disappointment. I won't be returning.
The Smashed Avocado Chè, or Vietnamese dessert drink/pudding, that I had was made with simply avocado, crushed ice, condensed milk, and rainbow/coffee jelly I'd say it's a more modernized and complex take on a classic throw together ASEAN dessert that usually consists of avocado, ice cubes, milk, and sugar. My honest opinion is that I wasn't a fan of this particular drink, as it didn't have the sweetness i was looking forward to. Every bite just felt like... avocado (seemingly so), although it was nothing too exceptional. Maybe the fruit just wasn't sweet at the time, but it might be just the one for someone who likes more mild desserts. Even then, it was still refreshing! The bitter sweetness from the coffee jelly, the chew from the honey boba, and crushed ice really do add much needed textural variety to the summer drink! Next time I'll order a more traditional style dessert like Chè Ba Mau from here! They do have a great selection of desserts and drinks to choose from, so I look forward to trying them out. This time around, simple was just too simple for me.
