Bidrage med feedbackAbsolutely beautiful outdoor patio next to the relaxing sounds of rushing water. The griddled cornbread was perfect. As for the food...they REALLY like their sauces. The peanut noodles (recommended by waitstaff) was drenched in the peanut sauce (far more sauce than noodle by volume). The Spicy Eggplant sandwich was drowning in the tahini. The lack of balance is disappointing, and did not live up to the hype. I severely regret not eating at the other onsite restaurant, The Lady Kilgrew. Ugh ugh ugh. Guy sitting next to us confirmed that the peanut noodles 'always ' have too much sauce hence why he never orders them. DO NOT GET THE PEANUT NOODLES!!!!! They are inedible.
As far as food goes, it was ok. As far as experience goes don't waste your time. Our bill was close to $200 and we were forced to eat out of paper take out boxes. No menus were given out, we were instructed to order as soon as we got to the host stand. The drinks were probably the best part of the entire meal and even those were over priced seeing as we were drinking out of plastic cups. Sad to see a cute restaurant with a great atmosphere be such a disappointment.
My birthday dinner out here on the deck during a nice early evening in the mai. it was old since I was in this place and was very excited to check it again. interesting menu set up here, with a tapas feel at it. much teller to share, that's my dead end. we enjoyed the soft brezel, some marinated mushrooms, a piece of salmon with a side of kartoffel puree, along with the local hadley gras, roasted beet and crab salad. so many different aromes go here. eating was as sublime as the weather and my company. also local beers were served. the service was remarkable. raphael has a great place that offers suggestions and pointed out...more
My initial thought to the Alvah stone was that he was a bit out of the way, fucked into a corner of a small, wooded city; a decent journey for many people. my first actual impression was very good; the beautiful landscape and the adjacent waterfall, bookshop and caffe made for a very picturesque location. I had heard great things about eating colleagues and stipene cooks, so my expectations were high when I arrived. when we went to the actual restaurant, our group of seven was greeted by a host and sat near the windows facing the waterfall. it was dark outside and the lighting in the restaurant was dim, but I can only imagine that look outside the window during the day. Impressive first meal in a restaurant I have plans to revise although it is over an hour away. alvah stone is part of a converted mill complex that also includes a bookstore, a music shop and another restaurant. the ground has rustic charm, but the primo spot is the alvah stone terrace with views of the river. but I was here for the burger, not for the landscape, so let's do this. it is $18 at dinner (with one side included), $13 at lunch (pages a la carte). the listed components are English muffin, onion marble, mayo, ccheddar, iceberg sauce and pickles. English muffin always causes treachery, as it is a fine line between excessively raw tasting and excessively crooked. here it is homemade...read more
