Bidrage med feedbackIt is not everyday that you get to eat in an old train station! From many traditional Sicilian appetizers to the first course with amazing pasta, to the dessert (panna cotta pictured below), we left fed with one incredibly delicious meal. The staff was efficient and helpful in telling me about their many gluten-free options. This was the tastiest meal on our recent trip to Sicily, and probably also the cheapest. Moreover, we enjoyed walking around the property, and could not get enough! On our next trip to Sicily, we will definitely make a special trip to picturesque Ficuzza to stay at the hotel and eat again at this wonderful restaurant. This would also be the perfect place for a banquet or wedding!
The food here is lovely. The atmosphere might get a bit noisy as it is hugely frequented by locals (hundreds, seriously! , so it is not the ideal setting for a romantic quiet dinner. But the food here is extremely good and well worth the effort to get to it. It is also very close to a gorgeous hunting lodge built by Ferdinand I, which is also worth visiting. A walk in the forest after lunch will help the digestion of the amount of food taken in : . The menu is on most occasions a fixed one consisting of about 10 types of mouth watering antipasti, followed by two types of pasta and a main which most cannot down. We once ate from the a la carte menu but possibly that is reserved for dinner or quiet days (ie not weekends . I have returned to this venue a number of times, which explains quality.
We were here for a family wedding. The accommodation is basic but reasonable for the price charged. The location is attractive, even in December and the building warm and cosy, especially by the big fire. No complaints about the food although a little disorganised in the morning. Can't agree with other comments about the town itself which we found very run down and dirty. Overall a good stay.
Went here with family for lunch and was not disappointed. A massive fire place (like from Citizen Kane) with a small fire burning kept us warm and set the ambiance. Any dish from the antipasti selection would be recommended. We had the baked ricotta , stuffed mushrooms , salami etc. and all was divine. We followed this with pasta. The pistachio cream sauce and bacon pasta was a highlight so was the butternut pumpkin and ricotta sauce pasta. If you're a foodie would encourage you to venture here for a meal. Also try the deconstructed cannoli . My kids raved about it.
When planning our visit to Corleone and the anti mafiamuseum CIDMA we read about this old restored trainstation which now houses this hotel/restaurant. Ficuzza is nearby Corleone so can easily be combined in one visit. Beautiful drive from Palermo to the inlands of Sicily. When entering the small village we found the route along a forestall leading strait to the entrance of hotel and restaurant. There is a large free parking spot. The building itself has been entirely restored as can be seen on large pictures on displays. This gives an insight as how the old building looked before and after. Inside the building there are signs to remember to the translation's function, like costumes, hats and so on. Staff are dressed in style and on the hot and warm day we were welcomed to have a table outside. We picked one of the tables, situated in front of the entrance under a parasol. Very peaceful surrounding and not much people at lunchtime. Though a wedding party was going on in the garden on the other side of the building. As we went inside we happened to stumble upon a large splendidly decorated room for the wedding banquet and party to take place later on. You could see that they take great care in every detail and styling. We only wanted one course instead of the usual italian 3 course Pranzo because we were running out of time. Otherwise we would have certainly chosen more different plates. We had pasta's which were really very delicious. And just had enough time to enjoy a dessert ; . The desserts were very nicely styled on the plates and were very good. Prices are reasonable for the high quality food that we enjoyed here. It was a pity to leave again in just 1 hour, but certainly was worth the visit. Recommended when you are in the neighborhood or on your way to Corleone.
