Looks promising, a very polite friendly young lady has set us. the decoration looked tired and the rickety old sitting seemed doubtful, but who couldn't get with the views of the table we got on the veranda. menus were the usual tourist plastic covered with pictures to help my lack of linguistic skills. the prices seemed good. of the four glasses on the table 2 were wet-filthy and three of them were cracked or chipped. eating came in order time wise and while the portions were huge eating was a big one. the food was sharp, but the same could be said for the salad. the quality of the smoked ham in the omelette was questionable and the meat in the burgers I got seemed lower quality than I would feed my dog with. has not even been asked if eating is in order or whether we want more drinks. I couldn't wait to pay and go. the boss didn't even take care of it when he paid! the toilets are a sweat, no hand wash? I guess that's because there was no sink to wash your hands. in this day and age is the disgusting! on the plus side the brotstarter was delicious. there are many restaurants, try it!
Totally agree with other people who have reviewed this place. Stopped here by chance after coming down from Foia and had a great value for money, honest and no nonsense lunch! Would definitely recommend it!
This is a family run restaurant. Our group arrived late in the afternoon after experiencing snow on Mt. Foia. Had a pork dinner that just hit the spot. The family was eating their dinner, and it also looked delicious. Finally the price was very, very reasonable.
We just left the town of Monchique around lunch time on our way up to the top of the mountain. We drove past Rei Do Piri Piri and when we could, we turned around to go back there for lunch. What caught our eye was...that the restaurant was all in glass overlooking the whole of the Algarve. Because of the location and the overall looks of the restaurant it was cantilevered out from the mountain, I thought that this was going to be really expensive, but thought it was worth it considering the great views. To our surprise we were told that the lunch special for 8 Euros per person was a complete meal of black pork (the loin portion). It was a no brainer so we ordered it. We couldn't believe what we got: a nice sized platter of pork, (all platters were the same size), platter of fries, platter of salad, rice platter, a basket of bread, bowl of olives, and a half liter of wine. At the end of lunch we had espressos which were also included. The lunch was very good. The pork was tasty but could have been a bit more tender. I hate leaving food behind, but there was no way we could eat it all. We were also surprised that the bread and olives were included because there is always a separate charge for these items in Portugal. Bottom line: a great meal with amazing views. We would definitely come back here again.
