Dona Maria - Monção

We visited the sister restaurant Donna Maria recently. We are regular visitors to Carvoeiro visiting at least twice per year. Sansibar was one of our favourite restaurants. We assumed when we visited the renamed restaurant that the food and service would be of the same high standard. The restaurant was very quiet but it still took over one hour for our main courses to arrive. The food was bland and unappetising. The waiter who served us was very apologetic stating that it was the second chef that was on this evening. The restaurant manager spoke to us but he blamed us for our choices and really was not interested. We feel that this restaurant does not add to the high standard of food that we have come to appreciate in Carvoeiro. Suffice to say we will not be returning and will certainly warn our friends and family to do the same.

The meat hanging vertically on a stick, that was what I wanted and it did not disappoint! There was plenty for 3 people and it seemed like a Brazilian style meal. We ordered it medium well, it was soft and juicy, not with blood running out. There were no pieces of bone or fat, just delicious meat! The rice was cooked just right and well flavoured too. There was quite a wide range of desserts. I had the biscuit cake (bolacha). It was like layers of Maria biscuits with cream. As if you had dipped Rich Tea biscuits in milk but made into a dessert. The service was rapid even though the restaurant was fairly full.

Nous avons pris 2 doses de brochette pour 4 personnes cela faisait beaucoup 1 1/2 aurait suffit viande de qualité ce n est pas la première fois que j y vais c est toujours Bon un peu plus chers que Dans d autre restaurants sera le bémol mais on y mange plutôt bien

Hoje tive prazer de ir almoçar ai , e gostei de tudo o que mandei vir muito bem servido o bacalhau D. Maria e vitela tb é para mim um casa visitar numa próxima viagem a Monção, viste que sou do Porto , a sala devia ter ar condicionado estava muito quente .Mas pela comida vale pena visitar esta casa .
