Tong Lok Chinese Restaurant - Monash

Strongly recommend. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Ashburton/Glen Iris/ Malvern/ Camberwell areas. Great food, outstanding service

Arrived to pick up telephone order. Restaurant was only quarter full with patrons. No staff in sight. After a few minutes I was greeted by a waiter who then wetn out to kitchen for my order. Returned a nfew minutes later to announce that they had run out of plain rice. New batch would take a further 20 - 25 minutes. Agreed to swap to fried rice. He went out to arrange that. A couple arrived for dinner and were left standing for over 5 minutes, while waiter served tables. Another patron arrived to pick-up ordered take away. Another staff member came out and attended to him totally ignoring the couple standing there. Eventually they were seated at a table set for 4. Waiter brought out my order, but then had trouble working out what was in the 5 containers which were clear plastic. While he was doing that a patron who he had been serving at a table came up to complain that they had not been provided with plates to eat their food from and a meal which was supposed to be served first had not been served at all. He was speechless. She was disgusted and walked back to her table. I paid and left with my order. Food was ok but not as spicy as the menu suggested. No surprise that it was only quarter full on a Saturday night.

Saw the place was under "New Management", its local so gave it a try with friends. Menu well presented and each course excellent. They have a very capable chef out back. The test will be how they handle it when it gets busier....deservedly so.Young man out front excellent and attentive. Great local place a step above expectation.

Spur of the moment on Boxing Day evening. Staff polite, place clean and food very good value for money

Was rubbish, ordered 6 meals and all were awful with the exception of the lemon chicken. They had no taste
