Cranky Sam Public House - Missoula

I had high hopes for this place based off of the ratings and the beer list. Sampled the Scotch Ale and Dopplebock. The fact that they honored the Dopplebock naming convention set my hopes even higher. Unfortunately, on the sniff test both had hints of a soap scent which means it is sitting in the fermenter too long. The Dopplebock hid it in taste better than the Scotch Ale. Which was a bummer. I love Scotch Ales.

I moved away from Missoula 9yrs ago and came to visit. This place was an old bakery. Cranky Sam is a much better use of this space. I had a group of 20 folks and we all had fun on the back patio with a Jazz band playing. The service and selection were great! They had a food truck bellied up to the back and Biga Pizza was right next door.

I had a notification from my credit card company (Capital One) that I left a $34 tip on my $33 dollar bill. I reached out to these guys and they got back to me right away and were able to show me that my bill was actually $61 and that it was just misreported on my credit card bill. They made sure they got it figured out for me, which was super nice. Additionally, this place is always excellent with drinks and service. PSA to people that the overtipping notifications from your credit card company may not be accurate!

Staff had a great interaction with me a Bobcat fan) giving me a hard time about my Bobcat credit card. All other things were awesome!In all seriousness. Love the pride and colors. It wouldn’t be right walking out of there hearing anything else. You do your town proud!Will definitely go back. Cool atmosphere. We’ll trained staff. Great experience.And….Go Cats!

Great place to have a drink they have a large selection of beers. However they only have their own beers on tap and do not have frosted mugs for non tap beerThey have a good selection of their own draft I had the scotch ail and the wheat beer both were goodWhile there ask about the history behind the name of the place.
