Bidrage med feedbackI think White Gold must have new owners. The ad and money area was redesigned and I don't see any familiar faces. So my previous reviews that say the best Samosas outside India are no longer valid. There is a greater variety in the candy, and they are more complicated. But we do not go for candy; we're here for hearty. The food is still good, but I noticed some subtle differences. The mild Samosa seems milder than before. They didn't have one of the sharp ones about a machine that's broken. We tried some fried potato balls that they had not yet and enjoyed. The fried peppers were delicious, but very mild. This is still a good place for Indian snacks, but perhaps not as convincing as it was before.
Since it has been bought over, by a new set of owners, the quality of all snacks has come down considerably. I bought the pakoras and samosas from them about 2 months ago for the first time, since the change in ownership, and we noticed...that the quality was bad and the pakoras were undercooked. The pakoras were the star sellers when the original owners were still running the place, and we did not mind paying more since it was quite tasty. So, after having been disappointed the first time, I did want to give them another chance and bought the pakoras again about 2 weeks ago. It was still the same taste has completely changed from the original recipe and the cost was more expensive and besides, it was undercooked again. The samosas are definitely NOT the same quality! We had to throw out the entire 2 pounds of The pakoras big mistake in giving them a second chance. The new owner CLAIMS that it is all the same recipe, but it definitely is not true! Will NOT be buying from them again a Pity though, since we could always count on good quality with the previous and original owners.
We have been here many times and have recommended it to friends. Our South Asian neighbors now shop here for take-out. We weren’t aware they are closed on Mondays but they work the other 6 days so one day off is reasonable. We ended up...getting samosas at Mr India. No comparison in quality so we went back to White Gold two days later. White Gold samosas were packed with flavour. The mild ones are still somewhat hot, right on the limit for my wife. The hot ones are to my taste but watch out, they do make me perspire. The pakora or pakoda are very nice. A couple of days a week, I think it is on the weekend, there is yellow snack that looks like short , flat pasta noodles. I have forgotten the name but not the great taste. The Aloo Tikki is also definitely worth trying. The owners are very nice people, very friendly and polite. We always have a chat with the lady.
A very kind woman, possibly the owner, served a wide variety of snacks at this restaurant. The samosas, especially the spicy ones, were excellent. The prices were fair and reasonable. There were no chairs available to sit in, but the outlet was very clean. I was told that the sweets were made with milk and natural ingredients, not milk powder. The masala tea I had while waiting for my snacks to be packed was a highlight of my day. I'm confident that their catering service for special occasions would be well done. Overall, this restaurant was a fortunate discovery in an industrial complex.
This restaurant has been in business for a long time, but recently underwent a change in management. As others have mentioned, it is a small takeout spot where you may have to wait in line, which can be frustrating at times. Despite this, the staff is friendly and the snacks such as samosas, kachories, and sweets are delicious. The prices are a bit high compared to other places, but it is still worth a visit to try out the tasty offerings.
