Bidrage med feedbackThis stylish and modern restaurant offers generous portion sizes at reasonable prices. I particularly enjoyed the special thali, which was excellent.
We were greeted with a stainless steel platter containing six bowls, ready to be filled. When we inquired about the milk products, the owner explained that everything was made with care, and to our pleasant surprise, two dishes of the day were vegan. The yogurt curry and a wheat cream dessert did contain milk, though. The chapatis came out on their own, and we were encouraged to top them with ghee. We started with appetizers, which included two types of peppers and dhoklas (steamed savory cakes). These were served with two chutneys and a carrot salad, all of which were excellent. The dhoklas were simply amazing — soft with the perfect amount of seasoning. Next came the curries: the potato curry (okay), whole moong dal (delicious), lentil dal (absolutely amazing — I likely consumed half a liter of it), and okra (very good, though a bit oily). The sweet boondi was decent as well. The chapatis and deep-fried puris were also good, and the Oondhiyu/Andhiyu was well-prepared, using minimal oil while maximizing flavor — suitable for those with spice sensitivity. Don't forget the rice, which can be complemented with a salty lassi or chaas (buttermilk). If you want to savor authentic Gujarati cuisine like the all-you-can-eat thalis served in Mumbai and Gujarat, this is the place to be. The staff was plentiful and served us well for the most part. We did have to wait a while for our curries, as we were given plenty of chapatis but needed more curries to enjoy with them. This is the only area for improvement, but overall, the experience was very good.
The fast food here is quite good. However, I was disappointed with the Avsar Special Thali; aside from the tasty rotis, the vegetables, rice, and dal were all cold. The server was unhelpful when we requested to have our food warmed up. On a positive note, they provided a separate room for our group, which was appreciated.
I had been to this restaurant before, but my recent dinner experience was disappointing. Two out of the three vegetable dishes we ordered were quite oily. Additionally, the table for two was very cramped and made it hard to enjoy the two plates (thalis) we ordered.
I tried the Schezwan vada pav, kashta kachori, and Misal pav, all of which were delicious. The staff recommended the rabdi kulfi falooda, and it was absolutely amazing. I also want to highlight that everything is prepared by a team of talented women in the kitchen, which adds an interesting touch to the experience. Kudos to these wonderful chefs! Check out the photos below and be sure to give it a try!
