Bidrage med feedbackWe stopped by in the early morning and were getting eaten alive by mosquitoes while walking around, so we sought refuge in the café. They offer a good selection of breakfast options with a stunning ocean view, and luckily no bugs to bother us.
We were two adults that visited this restaurant on August 26, 2019. The restaurant is very cute with original paintings on the walls for sale by local artists. Lots of windows in the restaurant to view Chaleur Bay. On a clear day you can see the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec. We were very fortunate as it was a beautiful sunny day while we were there. There's also a small terrace, if you wish to eat outside. The menu is mainly a soup, sandwich and homemade dessert place. However, there was also fish cakes on the menu. They also serve a late breakfast as they only open at 11 a.m. (They are closed Tuesdays. The Staff was very welcoming. We ordered the homemade vegetable soup with a dinner roll plus crackers. Excellent. My friend ordered the BLT sandwich and I had the grilled cheese and ham sandwich. Both sandwiches came with chips. The sandwiches were very good filling. We both ordered a Budweiser beer. (They also have wine. We were hoping to taste a dessert but we were too full!! Washrooms were very clean. We know the lighthouse is only open from mid June to mid September. We imagine the gift shop the restaurant probably close the same time. Worth visiting before they close for the autumn.
At the northeastern tip of New Brunswick's amazing Acadian Peninisula, one finds a handsome historic lighthouse (1856) where you can read about its history, climb to the top for the view and, occasionally, enjoy live music. A seasonal attraction, it is open mid June until mid September. The former lighthouse keeper's cottage is now a very good restaurant which we visited on the Sunday morning of a long holiday weekend in early August the annual Festival Acadien was in full swing in the area. There is a limited café style menu available but we chose the daily special (for $18): a large bowl of excellent seafood chowder (after all, you're looking out the windows to the Baie des Chaleurs and the Gulf of St. Lawrence) which was served with an equally large and tasty cauliflower and broccoli salad. Dessert was included, a delicious strawberry creme cake, made locally, followed by an espresso. Service was friendly and although you're in the heart of l'Acadie, most staff spoke English as well as French.
After a long drive to see the Miscou Lighthouse, we were also in search of a good spot for lunch. We were thrilled to discover this excellent restaurant adjacent to the lighthouse, with a gift shop nearby. We both thoroughly enjoyed Maggie's Fish Cakes - they were delicious. The service was friendly and we were able to communicate in English. Highly recommended!
Our friends took us from Petit Rocher thru Bathurst , down thru Shippegan and into Miscou. What s beautiful drive. Lots of pictures. Afterwards we ate at this restaurant and everything was home made. Lobster rolls, fish cakes, sugar pie , rhubarb pie and awesome coffee. Great job Mireille! We will see you again Ron and Betty from Brantford Ontario.
