La Grassa - Minneapolis

This has been my favorite downtown restaurant for ages. Getting in and getting a reservation can be challenging, but worth it every time. Kid friendliness: Don't bring the kids here it's the wrong vibe for them and not what the patrons are looking for when they're there.

We recently dined at Bar La Grassa and had another fantastic food experience, as usual! I absolutely love the red wine spaghetti with pine nuts, which I have ordered the last two times. My husband enjoyed a lobster dish. Our server was phenomenal, attentive, and top-notch. Bar La Grassa offers valet parking, which makes arriving and departing seamless. It 's recommended that you make reservations, and the restaurant sends reminders and expects confirmations, which is perfectly fine. I am put off by the fact that the restaurant tells its guests that their dining experience has a time limit, hence my rating downgrade. This is the second time I 've been told about a mandatory departure time before I even sat down. This revenue-recapturing strategy started during Covid and wasn 't exclusive to Bar La Grassa. While I understood the need for the protocol during the aftermath of the shutdowns, times have changed. My foodie friends have grown tired of this messaging, and despite rising dining costs and inflation on all fronts, they still support the restaurants. The last thing they want to be told is get out. This messaging feels as if one 's patronage isn 't fully appreciated. Many other restaurants do not have this time limit policy, by the way. The irony is that I 'm a respectful customer who complies with the time limit, but the feeling of being pushed through my meal detracts from my overall enjoyment. This leaves me on the fence about returning. Feeling unwelcome to linger a little longer for another glass of wine or dessert is disappointing.

Exceptional. Certainly one of the best pasta places in the country.

Everything about Bar La Grassa is great! Food, Atmosphere and Service. However, for my wife and I, Joshua created an experience above and beyond great! Cognizant and Accomodating sum Joshua up. He asks questions to ensure he is taking care of you that best fits your needs. He sets a perfect pace so that you and your guests can enjoy each segment of your meal without waiting or being rushed. He is very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and can direct you to a perfect dining experience.
