Bidrage med feedbackA standard hotel restaurant sees everyone, eat bad! the place is very beautiful looking and the menu seems sufficient. our server was pretty good, seemed to take care of the customer. but then the negative ones come into play. eating is fine. the bark short ribs were hard and hard. that should be so tender that it would just be disliked with their fork. I needed a steak knife to cut it. chewing was another story. I was worried about breaking a tooth. tasteful? Actually, there was practically no taste. not to speak seasonal. the kartoffeln no taste again. the baby back ribs seemed a little better...but the horses served with them were almost impossible...more
The only non-Barolotta restaurant in town that is top of the class.
Just got back from dinner. I highly recommend going on Sundays to get the special. For $20, you get a choice of soups, one of three entrées, and a dessert. My tenderloin this evening was delicious. Try their carrot cake for dessert; it's the house special. Also featured a wide selection of wines from a $15 merlot to a $1250 French Chardonnay. The beer selection is fairly good too and features Lakefront microbrews, including an amber that Lakefront Brewery makes specifically for Mason St Grill.
Too pricey for what you get. Service is great though....do not order a starter, just order an entree as a starter. They five you a check in a tiny leather couch and that's why the salads cost $20.
Flagrant Usage of Butter. Everything I ate at this restaurant was DRENCHED in butter. The rolls that came out first were the consistency of cake. Probably with the same amount of butter. The flour used to make the rolls was bleached and processed beyond recognition. At one point in time, the flour might have been wheat. My fingers were oily after I picked up the cracker bread. Of course, the rolls and cracker bread came with whipped butter instead of something tasty like a vinaigrette. The fish that I ordered had a crust on it that was similar to a pie crust.
