Cafe El Sol - Milwaukee

I received gift certificates, so we visited the restaurant twice. During our second visit, we ordered soup and were surprised to find out it was $7.95 a bowl—yikes! However, the fish fry was just as good as it was the first time we came. The staff is also very friendly from the moment you walk in.

The waitress was very kind, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My husband had the carne frita, which lacked flavor, and the Puerto Rican rice didn’t really taste like authentic Puerto Rican or Mexican food—it seemed like a strange blend of both that just didn’t work. I ordered the churrasco, but it turned out to be a low-quality cut of meat that was tough and had an off taste. Overall, we were not impressed with our meals.

What a fantastic way to end the work week! The home-cooked meals were delightful and packed with fresh vegetables. The music added a fun vibe to the atmosphere, which I would rate a perfect 5 out of 5. The hospitality and service were also top-notch, another 5! I think I've found my new happy place!

Just ordered for the first time and was hugely disappointed. Received the sampler, the flautas were excruciatingly dry and the chicken inside tasted spoiled. The maduros, instead of being sweet were actually SOUR, so off-putting!! So not sure if they were spoiled as well. And the pastel? Every time I dine at Cael El Sol, the food bursts with amazing flavors! The atmosphere is fantastic, and the music is enjoyable too!
