Bidrage med feedbackI have been there several times after I got my diagnosis with celiac disease. This is one of the few restaurants in Mexico where they know what having celiac disease means and they tell you what you can and can’t have in the menu. I prefer ordering a few plates to share, but they will also make necessary adjustments if you choose the tasting menu. The food is delicious.
A globally renowned restaurant that deserves all its praise. Upon entering they confirmed that I was celiac and were careful and conscientious throughout. They even had gf desserts. Order the guava rocks!
Delicious tasting menu that collects flavors from all over Mexico. 3 star waiter but I give 5 stars to the rest of the service (sommelier, other waiters, hostess), who were extremely nice. Prices are really high (over $2500 MXN per person with drinks), but it's worth coming at least once because the food is amazing. I didn't like it the decoration and the atmosphere that much. But the food really makes worth coming to Quintonil. If you are already here, I think it's worth investing in the tasting menu. My favorite dishes were the Salbut with mushrooms, the avocado tartar with escamoles and the duck with almond purée! An amazing surprise was the nopal (cactus) ice cream, because I don't usually like nopales, but the ice cream was really fresh and delicious. The whole menu takes you to different places in Mexico, from Yucatán to the coast to rural areas in the mountains. We really enjoyed the whole experience. We also ate 3 desserts, one of them was our anniversary gift from Quintonil. I have to admit that the latter was difficult to eat because it was like a cheesecake, but the cheese was too strong (queso de bola). Once we mixed it with the ice cream it was good. So I would recommend other desserts if you don't like this type of cheese. In terms of drinks, we decided not to order the tasting menu that includes wine, but we asked the sommelier for recommendations. So we tried a glass of white wine from San Luis Potosí called Laberinto for the first half of the menu and then red wine from Chihuahua called La Casona for the second half. The red wine was amazing, very original, and delicious. The sommelier was super nice and answered all our questions. He even recommended us wineries where we can find these Mexican wines that are really hard to find. A different member of the staff brings you each plate and explains the ingredients. All of them were really nice, except our waiter. I had the impression that he was judging us and trying to sell us the most expensive things. For example, when we just came in he offered us glasses of water and we accepted, but we didn't know that he was going to bring us a super expensive bottle of water (100 MXN). In other restaurants they don't charge you for the water, unless you specifically ask for those bottles. He also was not nice enough and we had to ask him twice to clean the table. Other than that, the rest of our experience was really good.
I've eaten here several times and have always had a fantastic dinner. It's a shame you need to reserve weeks in advance to get a table for dinner over the weekend or I would come more frequently. The dining areas are no frills, but the simplicity allows a greater focus on the phenomenal dishes. I usually get the tasting menu with wine pairing and it never disappoints. The food is Mexican haut cuisine and one of the few places where I trust the chef with anything they serve, including the escamoles which I wouldn't eat anywhere else. This is a must visit for residents or visitors, but book well in advance.
