While we admire the bottom of the james Playfair-designed, three-storey building, I remember that it is eating that we are actually here to check. with three curses that she back £28.50, I started with a smoked flat plate, accompanied by pickled gurke and a new potato salad with a sweet dill and senf dressing. this offer was a lighter and fresher away to begin the meal. the taste of the laugh suggested that it was delicious quality, and the picking of the salad was not too sharp or exaggerated; a prise of spice...read more
Now if you’ve read our previous post you’ll know that I am a big fan of afternoon tea. So when we were invited along to Melville Castle on Sunday it was an offer we couldn’t really refuse. Once we got there after a minor hiccup with the sat nav and a bit of wildlife spotting we arrived at Melville Castle. The entrance into it is very grand and we couldn’t wait to see what lay ahead of us. Once inside we were shown to our table. It was a lovely window seat. We had a fantastic afternoon at a stunning location. I had always dreamt of being in a castle and that dream came true when I had afternoon tea at Melville Castle. It was a beautiful experience! The tea, sandwiches, scones, and cakes were all delicious and left us feeling satisfied. We can't wait to go back for more. We will definitely be returning soon.
Edinburgh offers a variety of attractions for visitors, such as the zoo, theaters, museums, and the famous Royal Mile. With tourists flocking to the city, there is an abundance of bars, restaurants, and hotels to choose from. The Royal Mile has been a hub for gastropubs and taverns for centuries, each trying to outdo the others. Today, the scene remains the same with countless options for dining, drinking, and accommodations. Additionally, there are plenty of souvenir shops offering cheap trinkets and stuffed Scottish dogs for purchase. Don't miss out on exploring all that Edinburgh has to offer.
As two young mothers, Emily and I couldn't have picked a better day to plan our overnight trip to Melville Castle, located at the southern tip of Edinburgh near Dalkeith. The sun shone through the trees as we drove up the private driveway which was surrounded by lush greenery just 8 miles from the city center. This neogothic mansion, designed by James Playfair (brother of William) and built between 1786-90 for Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, was abandoned and ruined in the 1980s before being bought and restored in the 1990s.
