As you enter the hotel this restaurant sits in, you immediately see Biscayne Tavern. From all that walking around Miami (especially if you parked quite a distance), at least be relieved the place isn't hard to find. We were seated by the wall of TV flat screens (6 in total, 3 of which were playing the Heat game currently going on across the street) and welcomed by our server who, with our eyes closed, sounded like the actor Joseph Gordon Levitt. He explained the menu pretty well and during our time there, he was pretty attentive. So A on customer service. The food, on the other hand, gets a B. Not bad, but could be better. The pork belly sliders were OK. Enough flavor, but the pork belly itself felt a little overcooked to the point I had to chew a little more than usual. Perhaps it's because the slices were thin, so it's easy for it to keep cooking right after they were removed off the pan. Handmade potato chips and cheese dip were OK as well. The chips really needed the dip, so I can't say I had enjoyed eating them alone. Though, I did like the thickness and there was enough crisp (I'm not fond of potato chips that are too thin), but the chips may have needed a little more salt. The cheese dip started out good, but because they used pure cheese, the dip easily cooled down and it got a little more difficult to dip. Oh, so that explains why the chips are thick. The shrimp dynamite was very good! I believe it's the only thing we actually enjoyed on the menu. My boyfriend wasn't too fond of the sauciness, but that was easily fixed by eating it with the bed of shredded lettuce that was at the bottom. It was as if this was just as good as a salad, because there was A LOT of lettuce at the bottom. No worries, we were not cheated, because there was a lot of shrimp on top as well. I actually enjoyed it, and I was able to appreciate it more with a cold glass of beer. If I ever come back, I'll order the shrimp dynamite again. If you ever go here, that delight is a MUST and it's worth it!
This is a great spot for happy hour. It's proximity to Bayfront Park makes it a great place to come before or after a concert as well. I came here on a Friday around 6 pm and enjoyed their happy hour. The happy hour includes half off well drinks, tap beer, and the snacks. The drinks were wel madel and I tried the house made hummus also. The hummus was surprisingly very good, as well as the warm pita that it was served with. MY husband had the chicken wings, and he said they were tasty as well. Everyone was very nice, service just got a tad bit slow as the place filled up, but that was expected. I'll definitely be back here!
This was probably the longest wait I have ever had for food, and mediocre food at that. Our waitress came to our table and in the middle of placing orders, she said I will be back. 30 minutes later we had to ask someone else to locate her. She finally took our orders and we had to ask for water and drinks again after they never arrived. She comes back with water 15 min later and no drinks, so again we asked for them. When the food finally arrived, the gentleman dropped it off and completely ignored us. Our waitress never once came back to check on us. Fast forward to 2 hours later and our waitress is still no where to be found when all we want is the check. We finally got up and hunted her down to request the check. All of that for bar food is not worth it. You can easily go up the street to get better.
I feel they changed the chef recently. You can tell the new chef is trying really hard but the food is quite tasteless. We ordered chicken wings and these wings are tiny. Almost too crispy for me, and just tiny soaked in lots of sauces but the flavor is not there. I had to order blue cheese dressing, sadly can't really taste the blue cheese either. Honestly, maybe it's not even the chef, it's the person who orders all the ingredients. You could tell, they definitely ordered cheaper version of blue cheese. All the dishes had a lot of sauces but just lack of freshness or good flavors. Same thing for the baby back rib. The ribs were soaked in tons of sauces, but nothing really stimulate the tastebuds. Either the chef is using all the powder seasoning, and no fresh seasoning like fresh garlic, fresh ginger, good soy sauce. You could tell, the flavors are just not there. Sorry, even though we live next building, we won't be coming back
