Bidrage med feedbackGreat mix of Chinese cuisine (with lots of finger food options) and Asian style Karaoke rooms (karaoke boxes), located at an undescriptive street mall close to I 75 in NW Miami Dade We hired a medium room, which probably fits 15 people, for 2 hours. The cost is $90 plus tax and tips and includes 2 appetizers and 6 sodas. The room includes a large screen, 2 microphones, and a touch screen to select your songs. The selection is quite wide, including your usual suspects songs in Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, and several other Asian languages, as well as Western songs and artists, mostly in English. There were some issues with the karaoke platform and user interface of the karaoke tool. Namely, in spite of having songs available in Japanese or Korean, there is no on screen keyboard configured to search songs in these languages, only in Latin script or Chinese. I would recommend you to make ahead a list of your favorite songs, it will be easier to add them that way than pulling from memory. As for the food, it was mostly delicious Chinese bar food. We ordered pepper chicken, wings, ribs, dumplings, fried rice, and the pièce de resistence of the night, spicy frog legs in a clay pot. Great variety of drinks, including flavored soju and beers. No sparkling wine or sake, though. In general, great experience and highly recommended.
We were welcomed with a warm smile by the greeter and our helper is awesome and super knowledgeable. They have private karaoke rooms....awesome food and drinks. This restaurant/karaoke bar is a must!!!!
Considering I know this area rather well given past adventures, it may shock you to know that I didn't know this place existed until Sergio F. set up a UYE there. The four of us (Karen, Max, Sergio, and I) went and essentially ate family style. A robot literally took us to our table and another robot brought us food. Not to mention that the robot by the hostess stand has a name. His name is Peanut. Go figure. Gimmicky robots aside, back to the food and drinks. Some alcoholic drinks were had, mainly beer and cranberry vodka, as they were out of a few things. We also had some boba teas, the mango fruit one and strawberry fruit one specifically. In general, drinks hit the spot, as did the food. For food, we began with several appetizers for the table. Egg rolls, steamed dumplings, and chicken wings to be exact. The egg rolls were sliced in half, so we got two orders. They were accompanied with a sweet sauce that paired well. The steamed dumplings were full of pork and accompanied with soy sauce. Again, another good union. As for the chicken wings, they were fried and plump. No complaints. For our mains, we shared pineapple fried rice, orange chicken, and salt and pepper corn. Typically I hate pineapple anything, but the subtle sweetness of the pineapple in the rice brought out an unexpected pop of flavor. It's as if it only augmented the spices. It just fit. I have no other way of describing it except that I went back for seconds and thirds. The orange chicken had a bit of a kick. Some may say spicy, but I disagree. Then again, I don't find many things spicy, so consider that. As for the salt and pepper corn, this was my absolute favorite. I love corn and this was a huge portion on the well-seasoned side. No bland flavors, baby, that's for sure. The only part of the meal I can't comment on is the dessert as the egg tarts were had by two in our party and I wasn't one of the two. This could've been five stars, but there were a few issues. They were understaffed that night and out of some items, including it seems menus. Somewhere through our meal, the waitress actually asked for the menus back. Plus, apparently you have to book way in advance for a karaoke room. You can't do karaoke in the main area. Oh, and of course you can't take your leftover sake with you and instead they hold it for awhile. Say what? Talk about weird.
I found MSMR a few weeks back when I ate at a neighboring restaurant in the same Hialeah strip mall. My interest was piqued when I saw karaoke, and decided to plan out an UYE here (huge thanks to Karen, Marilu Max for joining! The menu looked pretty tasty with all of the classics, as well as a large selection of Boba Tea. They have private karaoke rooms, which I missed out on reserving. From what I was told, reservations need to be made a week in advance. I noticed they have a stage in the main dining room as well; it would be nice if they also allowed guests to showcase our talents there as well. Besides the really friendly wait staff (helpful with recommendations and taking pictures of our group there 's also PEANUT the robot host as well as a few other robot busters. Super cool and high tech! There was Chinese pop and rap music playing on the video monitors also. As far as food, our group ate tapas family style. We shared the pineapple fried rice which made my friend Marilu a partial fan of pineapple in food with fresh pieces of pineapple, chicken pieces and a rice with the right amount of stickiness. Salted baby corns, spiced up with red pepper flakes, was another tasty tapa. The salt and lemon pepper drummies, also with a hint of spice, with perfectly crispy egg rolls and tender orange chicken not overdone in sauce completed our dinner. Portion sizes were generous enough that Karen Marilu both were able to have some to go. Karen I both had the Portuguese Egg Tart (Macau was once a Portuguese colony #historygeek had a flakey yet crispy crust with creamy filling. My peach boba before the meal was refreshing; I like that they also offer a low sugar version also. As far as stronger drinks, I didn 't finish my cold sake. Although I couldn 't get the bottle to go, they do have essentially lockers where they hold your bottle service for three months.
My first time trying octopus and I'm not disappointed. The salt and pepper octopus is very good. Also ordered the Chinese broccoli which is one of my favorite vegetables, it came exactly the way I wanted with a nice garlicy flavor. They are a bit expensive but my food is delicious so I really can't complain. I'm eager to try their salt and pepper wings next.
