Bidrage med feedbackWe actually were going to eat at another Cuban place that night and one of wonderful deco hotels said try Puerto Sagua. I ate there for the rest of the week. The waiter was beyond helpful. I had him choose everything for me. The food was to die for. It was simple, but tasty. All the food went well together with interesting quirks. I had shredded beef the first night, fried plantains, black bean soup, and wonderful beer. The ambiance was relaxed and felt very like a local favorite. This is not flashy SOBE but comfortable, fun, and tasty. If you want to pay too much and be seen, go elsewhere. If you want a reasonable, delicious, relaxed and wonderful meal I cannot praise Puerto Sagua highly enough. My wife and I had never been to Miami before and between the WinterHaven Hotel and this restaurant we are coming back every February we possibly can. I very much hope you enjoy this wonderful spot.
If you want to feel the Latin-American vibes of Miami combined with good Cuban food, than you definitely should go here! Best time to visit and enjoy the people: when everybody gets off the beach and is hungry. The service was super nice and the food absolutely great with quick serving. Grilled shrimp were delicious with a variety of Spanish wine choices. No fine dining, but inexpensive great food. Go here!
When we first arrived on South Beach, we immediately went to Puerto Sagua for a snack. I had a Presidente (beer) and a Cuban sandwich. We sat at the counter. An elderly Cuban man sitting a few stools down from me started saying, hmmm El Presidente....hmm El Presidente. The best of the beers... I agreed that it was mighty fine. He continued to make this assertion from various vantage points during our meal. He never ordered anything and the sullen and slow moving waiters didn 't seem to mind his presence. This seems to be a universal Cuban quality they make room for their codgers. The flan here? The best I ever had. The platanos maduros were great as were the beans and tostones. The pernil asado was very good as was my Cuban sandwich. The pollo asado was a bit dry. The prices are good for South Beach, but high for Miami Cuban.
I had never eaten Cuban food; I was staying in South Beach and was taken there by some friends. It was so good, I am from Texas and there are no Cuban restaurants in San Antonio. I can not stop thinking about how delicious the food was.
Whenever I come to South Beach, this is the first place that I go. It is a step back in time. The Cuban food is delicious: the ropa vieja, Cuban sandwich, Cuban pot roast. Great coffee too. Forget those fancy, splashy expensive SoBe restaurants. Come and escape!
