Kanno - Metairie

The sushi at this restaurant is really delicious. I tried the tiki roll and the Ryan roll. The service was excellent and our food came out very quickly. I also loved the chocolate treats we got with the bill.

Be sure to make a reservation! We were fortunate that we didn't, as there was only one available table when we arrived. We saw several people being turned away. The food came out quickly and was very fresh, with some excellent specials. The House smoked Salmon was incredible, perfectly smoked and topped with pickled onions and jalapeno slices. I opted for the Sunflower roll, a departure from the traditional rice-based rolls. It was packed with fresh fish and onions, and the slightly citrus and salty sauce was refreshing. The service was excellent, with attentive staff constantly checking on the patrons. I highly recommend dining here.

I am not familiar with this area, so perhaps that is why I am giving such a low score. The ginger salad only consisted of spinach leaves and I was unsure if the dressing was actually ginger. We ordered 5 different rolls, but only one was enjoyable. When we tried to order the chicken teriyaki dinner, it did not taste like teriyaki sauce at all; it was more like ketchup on chicken served with a small bowl of white rice. Despite the positive reviews, I was greatly disappointed. When making a reservation, we were required to provide a specific time frame, even though the restaurant was empty except for the workers. Overall, I do not think it was worth it.

Fantastic experience. We recently moved to the area and have been starved for quality sushi. Everything was super fresh and prepared with great care and skill. We had the Chef Choice Special. It begins with just 3 dishes, but you can keep ordering up these scrumptious surprises for a full meal. We?ll do that next time.

I recently moved to Metairie and have been trying out a few sushi places to see what my new spot should be. Kanno is definitely the winner. Excellent sushi at a very fair price. Hours and parking are a little weird, but definitely worth it. Also, they like you to make a reservation.
