Ristorante Filippo is a hidden gem in Metairie, just off Causeway, and one of the best Italian restaurants in New Orleans. The cozy ambiance with dim lighting sets the perfect mood. The House Cabernet pairs well with the delicious lasagna. The service, food, and atmosphere all receive a perfect score of 5.

Very disappointed, ordered the special filet mignion medium rare; most tasteless $65 piece of meat I have ever come accross! The veal picanta was over done and over floured, the sauce was over powered with capers, nothing subtle or flavourful. It was busy, so we forgive our server for not bringing a steak knife until asked, not offering parmeagan for the pasta until asked, etc.... In short very meidiocre food, frightfully overpriced. In addition what is very underhand at restaurants like these is that their suggested tip is not calculated from the food and drinks ordered. but on the entire bill including the government 's cut and their 'special charge ' of $4 for their kitchen staff. So if you pay their suggested tip, you are tipping on a tip as well as tipping on taxes. I abhor this sleight of hand and avoid restaurants like these because I feel that if they feel fit to cheat on this, what else are they cheating on? I have never been inside the restaurant, so I cannot comment on the building itself. However, the food was exceptional. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and often drive by this place on our weekly date nights. We had been wanting to try it for a while, and this week we decided to order takeout since I was feeling sick. The food was not only visually appealing, but the flavor was outstanding. As someone who cooks a lot at home, good flavor is a must for me, and this restaurant delivered. It was exactly what I was looking for. Additionally, my husband accidentally left his phone at the restaurant, and they called us to let us know and returned it to us. The service and food both deserve a perfect score of 5.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. Our entrees were delicious. The blonde-haired gentleman serving us was attentive, professional, and very friendly. He assisted us with choosing our wine and entrees. We will definitely return.
