Sassafras American Eatery, Highlands

Best customer service I've ever had. I ordered delivery and didn't receive half of my order. Called and Unknowingly spoke to the owner Michael. Not only was he extremely kind he went above and beyond!! It's hard to find people who actually care about customer service these days. I assumed it was going to be another situation where I'm SOL. Michael not only refunded me but made sure my new fresh meal was delivered fast and correct. I loved sassafras when it was located in golden (down the street from me). I will 100% make the drive to Denver and continue eating there. Food is always delicious. The fried green tomatoes are my favorite and I ordered a berry limeade drink that I'll be ordering again!! 10/10. Very happy

Wow this is my favorite brunch spot I’ve had in Denver. Everything was so flavorful! The place looks like an old time Victorian house and it’s beautiful. The service was a big slow for my liking. The food though, five stars. Everything was flavorful and did not need any extra salt or pepper. We both got a dish that had fried chicken on it and to be honest by the looks of it they looked like they were burnt because they were a bit darker but they were juicy and not burnt at all. Had the chicken and waffles, the chicken fried steak, grits, and hot cocoa. When I tell you everything was delicious…I will return and I recommend to everyone. The collards are soo good and so is the jalapeño cornbread. The gravy is amazing too.

We are from Kansas City saw so many people recommend this place so we decided to try it after we flew in. Atmosphere was cute it did smell a little funky but not too bad. Once sat our waitress was so very nice, she made it a lot better than it could have been. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles, I ordered the chicken and pimento biscuit. Looks were very deceiving, once having one bite of the chicken we were very put off and lost our appetite. It was like the cooks boiled the chicken before bread it/ frying it. Once cutting into it it fell apart and was very stringy. Suddenly lost our appetite. The waitress was so nice and busy that we decided to just pay and not complain. I would definitely think making the chicken fresh to order in the future.

Excellent food and service. We went with another couple and instead of splitting our meal and their meal on the tickets they would only split the ticket in half which we thought was very weird.

Got sassafras salads. Lots of arugula, 1/4 teaspoon of goat cheese, 2 red onion rings (very little onion), Virtually no dressing and bland blackened chicken. Paid $60 for poor tasting salads with barely $6 of ingredients. Paying too much for the location, won't again.
