Bidrage med feedbackAfter many years of living in Merida, I wanted to eat at Kon-Tiki, so today we made the mistake of trying them out. What a disappointment, the place is stuck back in the 60s, my wife says the place has not changed anything since she was a little girl. The restaurant doesn't feel like you're in a Chinese Restaurant, there is no Chinese Lanterns, nor Chinese paintings on the walls, and no Chinese music playing in the background. We ordered the way overpriced Pork Fried Rice and Pepper and Beef, well like that old Wendy's commercial for the 80s where the old lady says “ Where's the Beef the Pepper and Beef, had hardly any beef, in it, and the beef that was there was a cheap cut, and thin. The pork fried rice, was overcooked and the pork had no taste, and very salty. The one thing nice was that they give you Crispy noodles and duck sauce with Chinese Hot Mustard when you arrive. We should have gone to P. F. Changes, their food is 100 times better. The waiter was a very nice guy, seems like he has been there forever. Chef Bob Lissandrello Yucatan Food Critic

No wonder the Oriental Grill went out of business and PF Chang does not make enough money to fix their ladies' room faucet.... there is Kon-TIki! It's been around since time immemorial, and why? Well, this place has the best Chinese food I ever tasted......and the portions are copious.... and all of that in the Yucatán... who would have thunk? They also offer take out, and I'll definitely take out their food and take it to the beach with us.... Do give it a try, you'll get hooked just like us....
The place is nice looking and the server was very nice, but the food was some of the worst I have ever had. The szechuan tasted like seasoned brown gravy. The egg rools were pasty and gross, and the cuts of chicken were horrible. It...was as if they ran out of good meat and use the scraps for that day. My wife ate maybe bites of hers and was very upset. And the prices are more for gourmet food, but for that quality, I would rather go to a buffet or mall, pay less than half of what I paid here, and get better tasting food. I gag just thinking about our lunch.
Food was good and service good. The portion sizes are huge!We ordered shrimp fried rice, very nice. We also ordered tempura and spring rolls. Way, way too much food for two people, but really good!
