Bidrage med feedbackThe restaurant has expanded its dining area significantly, which unfortunately detracts from its overall charm. Once a quaint rustic cafe/restaurant with excellent food, the new section feels more like a cafeteria with an overpowering greasy smell from the fried food. I ordered scampi and chips with aioli mayonnaise, but when I requested tartare sauce, I was surprised to be charged an additional £1.75 for a small pot. The baked potatoes and sandwiches, priced at £9 each, do come with crisps, salad, and coleslaw, but the menu feels overpriced. The changes have drastically altered the vibe of the place, leaving me feeling embarrassed in front of my friends. Despite my previous praise for the restaurant, I doubt I will be returning in the future.
We have had good experiences dining at Whiterow in the past, but unfortunately our recent visit was not as enjoyable. The restaurant has recently opened a new area that is bright and welcoming. However, when we ordered our usual meals, the service seemed a bit disorganized. Three of our meals arrived together, followed by the fourth a few minutes later, which was not a major issue. The most disappointing part was that the chips were very dry and seemed to have been reheated or left under a heat lamp for too long, making them inedible. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she seemed unsure of how to respond and simply apologized. This was the first time I have ever complained at a restaurant, as we are not typically complainers, but the quality of the chips was not up to par. Despite the fish still being good and the portion sizes satisfactory, we are hesitant to return due to the disappointing chips and the lack of acknowledgment of the issue. Additionally, when our plates were cleared, no mention was made of the uneaten chips.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I ordered fish and chips and two drinks for takeout, but was only allowed to use the shed area when I requested a glass. I felt that paying over $30.00 for fish and chips should at least warrant a plastic glass, but was eventually offered two glasses. The process of ordering in the shop with an alarm system and then picking up the food at the window felt bizarre. When we finally received our fish and chips, we found that the fish was extremely dry and the batter was thick and unappetizing. Despite being loyal customers since the opening of the restaurant, we will not be returning. It's a disappointing and sad end to our experience at Whiterow.
Sad to say cooked breakfast was overpriced and average at best. My wife ordered 2 poached eggs on toast, What she got was 1 poached egg 1 hard boiled egg and a mouthful of eggshell . Craftily the hard egg was place under the poached egg. Mentioned it to the waitress who tbf couldn't give a Monkies !!! With coffee that was poor it came to £24 ... I know times are difficult but come on guys bit of pride in your work....
I ordered take away fish and chips for two and was given a buzzer that would alert me as I waited in my car when my order was ready. After waiting more than twenty minutes I returned to query the length of my wait (it was not busy); the buzzer sounded as I reached the door of the shop. I was told I had been buzzed five times (the buzzer had not sounded while I was in my car clearly for whatever reason there is a range issue) and that a member of staff had looked for me in the car park (obviously they had not looked very far). I seemed not to be believed that the buzzer did not work and, when I queried whether my food would still be hot if they had spent some time supposedly buzzing and looking for me, I was glibly told my food would still be hot and no offer was made to replace my order with fresh food. After a very short drive home I discovered the inevitable: the food was lukewarm and inedible. £24 had been wasted. My last visit to Whiterow Fish and Chips.
