Tops B Q Lamar Ave. - Memphis

My mom and I ordered sandwiches to take out, and we were really impressed! The staff was wonderful, the food was piping hot, and the manager made us feel right at home. He greeted us with a smile and double-checked that our order was correct. I've been coming here for years, but I've never experienced such fantastic hospitality as we did today. Keep up the great work!

I'll start with the positives: the cooks were very friendly, and the food was hot and fresh—definitely the best I’ve had at a Tops Bar-B-Q in a while. The older light-skinned lady was also really pleasant. Perhaps she would be a better fit as the cashier instead of the young woman sporting the tired lace front wig. Now for the negatives: I placed an online order with specific instructions, but they may not have been communicated properly on their end. The young lady at the counter rudely informed me that she had tried to contact me twice. Her frustration was evident as her attitude continued to be unpleasant. When I went to pick up my two cups, she claimed, "I was trying to give you your cups but you sat down too fast!" That wasn’t true; she had asked me to step aside after I provided my name, so I naturally waited for it to be called. I felt like I could have lashed out, but I maintained my composure thanks to the friendliness of the other staff members. My suggestion is to properly train the young cashier and clearly explain what good customer service entails. She needs to understand that she shouldn’t talk down to customers or treat them with such rudeness. If this continues, it might be best to find a more suitable cashier.

I absolutely love Top's Barbecue on Lamar! I've been dining here for years, and the managers are fantastic. The service is excellent, and I really enjoy their brisket and the new bologna sandwiches they offer. The jumbo barbecue sandwiches are also a favorite of mine. I give Top's a solid five-star rating! I do wish they served hot dogs or smoked sausage, but I'm happy with everything else on the menu. If you visit Top's on Lamar, be sure to say hi to the new manager—he's really friendly and has a great personality! His assistant manager, Barbara, is wonderful too!

Shout out to their A1 staff! My order was messed up but I didn’t notice till I had gotten home but I spoke to the manager and he took care of the problem right away. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I WILL be back. Thanks again
