Bidrage med feedbackAs someone who enjoys Cajun-Creole cooking, I've sampled it in various restaurants and have even prepared it for parties at home. I've taken lessons from renowned chefs and invested in special cookware during my visit to New Orleans years ago. The menu at Mr. B's was so appealing that I found it challenging to make a selection—there was just too much that caught my interest! I typically go for a trio sampler if they offer one. This evening, I decided on a bowl of Crawfish Étouffée ($10.50). It had the classic Cajun red pepper heat, just as expected. However, the dim lighting made it hard to spot—or taste—the crawfish. When my server checked in, she couldn't see them either. The dish was sent back to the kitchen, and a young man returned about five minutes later with a generous serving of plump, pink crawfish on top. The servers were well-dressed in black, projecting an air of professionalism. Soft jazz played in the background, contributing to a cozy atmosphere for an enjoyable dining experience.
Mister B's stands out with its selective seafood offerings and expertly cooked steak or double-thick pork chop. I used to frequent this restaurant weekly at its original location, and I feel the move to Carrefour has somewhat diminished its charm. While they seem to be attempting to enhance the ambiance, it feels a bit lost in translation. I still miss the nostalgic Mrs. Pac Man cocktail table and the centipede arcade game. Recently, I enjoyed a delightful trout, and I doubt I’ll order anything else besides that incredible fish! As for the vegetable sides, they tend to be hit or miss; I often find them either too peppery, overly smoky, oversalted, or lacking in flavor. My cabbage was decent, though. Dear Mister B's, if you happen to read this, please never part with that jukebox, or you might as well change your name. (Seriously, call me first; I’ll buy it. Sincerely, The Boogie Woogie Bugle Girl)
The food is fairly average, at best. Shortly after we arrived, it became clear that the staff was either overwhelmed or lacking in experience. Our waitress interrupted our order three times to argue with the hostess. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant; it’s certainly not worth the price.
SINGLE TO LEFT FIELD! Throwback. This place is really cool. For some reason it feels like it's been here a long time (which it has). The furniture and decor is very nice, but probably dated. It's never crowded and the entrance to the restaurant is actually facing the South (railroad tracks) on the backside of a small shopping center. I grabbed dinner here with a friend the other night and we were very pleased. I had the grilled chicken on rice with a backed potato and slaw. Everything was very good. The chicken was cooked well, juicy, and had lots of flavor. The potato was soft and fluffy and the slaw was prepared well. My friend ordered the chopped steak and said it was killer good. I've only been here a few times, but can't wait to go back.
Today was my first lunch experience at Mr. B's. my honey took me to this amazing Southern style place and we dined on pork chops, potatoes, green beans, collard greens cabbages& tilapia I definitely recommend this place for lunch and dinner especially if you love Southern style cooking Amen
